Andrea & Ken

For Andrea and Ken’s unity ceremony, they made coffee together. They committed to share this ritual every day for the rest of their lives. The ring that Ken gave to Andrea is her grandmother’s, signifying the importance of family… past, present and future. Andrea said that Ken’s ring is from Costco. :) The wedding party processed to Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring. After the opening phrase of “Here comes the bride”, Andrea and her son danced down the aisle to Marry You by Bruno Mars. That was a creative and fun delightful surprise to the audience! During the ceremony, family and friends sand along with us to Amazing Grace. The recessional was Coldplay’s Viva La Vida, followed by Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey. What a warm and joyous night!

Miranda & Tyler

On this rainy/sunny day up Millcreek Canyon in the Meadow near Log Haven, we played a special request while the bride walked down the aisle: A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman. One of Miranda’s bridesmaids wore a gold sequin dress that reflected the brilliant evening sun in tiny light across the dresses of the other bridesmaids, just like the pin hold in the lantern in A Million Dreams!

In Jewish tradition, the breaking of the glass represents the shattering of the old and welcoming of the new. The officiant encouraged all the guests of this interfaith wedding to contribute to breaking down the barriers between people in this world. Mazel tov to Miranda & Tyler!

The Rains of Castamere

IMG_66711.jpg

On this rainy day, we played The Rains of Castamere as requested for this gorgeous (and yes, wet) outdoor wedding at Log Haven up Millcreek Canyon. This piece, which was most heavily featured in the Red Wedding episode of Game of Thrones, was dark but very pretty and we loved learning it. Check out the misty evergreens on the mountain and the happy couple as we left them with their guests. Congratulations to the bride and groom!

Shelby & Jake

This beautiful bride walked down the aisle to the grooms special request for her: Feather Theme from Forrest Gump. It was an amazing moment! And now we have a lovely new arrangement to add to our repertoire. Congratulations Shelby and Jake!

Coincidentally, one of our original string quartet members, Rebekah Butler, was in town from AFRICA visiting her sister (our 1st violinist Cathy Butler) and she filled in for Meili. Not only do we share fun quartet memories but Rebekah also happened to have made a home movie around the Feather Theme while in grade school! Since then she has gotten her Masters Degree in Music Performance and has lived all over the world. Shortly after this wedding we sent her on her way up to Idaho to stay with our violist Michelle’s sister to audition for the Boise Philharmonic and she got a principal position in this prestigious group. We are always so proud to say that we gave this talented musician and friend her start back in February of 2002 when we established Strings of Elegance! :)

Unplugged Canyon Wedding

Congratulations Curtis and Courtney! Thanks for letting us be part of your memorable wedding ceremony in the Meadow at Log Haven. Our fellow Harry Potter fans will appreciate the signs this beautiful couple posted at their reception. One wooden sign said, “After all this time?” and the second sign answered, “Always.”
