Monica + Kevin

Monica, the friendly Colombian beauty, married the love of her life, Kevin, at the Memorial House in Memory Grove. We included Schubert's Ave Maria in prelude. At the announcement of the officiant, we played Canon in D as five flower girls in twirly white dresses tossed flower petals, and the bride, accompanied by her mother, approached her awaiting groom. Monica and Kevin held hands as they committed their lives to each other. Mendelssohn's Wedding March accompanied them down the aisle as husband and wife.

For the celebration while greeting their loved ones, we included the following pieces:
Can't Help Falling In Love
La Vie En Rose
Viva La Vida
Paradise
Clocks
Air on the G String

Congratulations, Monica and Kevin!

Aubrey & Justin

The residence where Aubrey and Justin celebrated with family and friends overlooks the beautiful, green hiking trails of Bountiful, Utah. We played at the top of the steps where guests approached the buffet of fresh fruit and hors d'ouvres. Our perch overlooked the extensive grounds and the swimming pool, next to which the happy couple greeted their guests.

Aubrey's special requests included:

Can't Help Falling in Love
I'm Gonna Be / 500 Miles
Sleeping Beauty Waltz
Beauty and the Beast
Somewhere in Time
The Way you Look Tonight
Hallelujah

Erin & Joel

For this lovely outdoor ceremony, we played pieces the bride selected that were were perfectly matched to the beautiful setting at the Thomas S. Monson Center and well suited to the couple. After playing Can't Help Falling in Love for the processional, the bride/groom gave presents to their parents while we played Moon River, and then attempted to light a candle while we played A Thousand Years. The gift giving was a super sweet and thoughtful touch while the candle lighting ceremony provided opportunity for the couple to show their resilience given the weather challenges. The wind provided some interesting moments during the service but love was in the air and all went smoothly anyway.  We played You're My Best Friend as the new Mr. & Mrs. took their 1st steps as husband and wife.

Christmas Music

We play Christmas music! We were honored to be invited to perform at the Treeo Christmas party earlier this month. We played selections from The Nutcracker and traditional Christmas carols, to which some residents sang along.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and warm wishes to you!

Fort Douglas Post Chapel Wedding Ceremony

On Saturday we had the honor of playing for Anna's family wedding. Her husband and kids were there to celebrate and enjoy the oldies music we were asked to play for this cute retro couple. The ceremony music they selected was unique and represented them perfectly.

Wedding Procession: "Can't Help Falling in Love"

Bridal Procession: "My Girl"

Recessional: "So Happy Together"

During the ceremony, these are some thoughts the bride and groom shared: "Being with you is like having a perfect haircut every day." ~Shannon "You are the best of wives and the best of women... I promise not to roll my eyes at every Hamilton reference... I am not throwing away my shot." ~Colt

Congratulations to Colt and Shannon!

Josh & Kelsey

Congratulations to Kelsey and Josh. This fun couple tied the knot surrounded by family, friends, and a beautiful sky. This setting for a wedding ceremony will take your breath away!

I loved this couple's choice of fun, unique ceremony music:

Bridal Party: Coldplay, Paradise

Bride Processional: John Legend, All of Me

Recessional: Pompeii, Bastille

Skylodge at Summit Powder Mountain is a cluster of glass yurts with a large deck that offers spectacular views. You can actually see Cache Valley, Antelope Island, and Pineview all while standing in one spot.

The ceremony ended with a well-timed, stunning sunset!

Lindsay & John

It was a hot July day, but so nice to be a part of Lindsay and John's wedding ceremony next to a refreshing pond, under the shade of several giant cottonwood trees. Glass chandaliers hung from their branches, and a giant empty picture frame served as the ceremony backdrop.

Ceremony selections:
Processional song - A Thousand Years
Bride's entrance -- Canon in D
Recessional song - Here comes the Sun

Above the Heat at Alta Lodge

Alta Lodge is nestled at the top of the mountains with a beautiful, green and blue mountain backdrop. This July day was downright balmy with thick clouds and a slight breeze. But the weather held out perfectly for the outdoor wedding ceremony on the deck.

For the ceremony, the happy couple requested:
Canon in D – Pachelbel,
Jesu, Joy of Mans Desiring - Bach
Here Comes the Sun – Beatles

When Tim saw his bride, his eyes got a little wet. Then, during the ceremony, Morgan laugh/cried as she looked at him and they happy cried together. Morgan and Tim lit their candles, and together lit the unity candle, with the help of their brothers as wind shields.

The wedding party went inside for cozy cocktails just as we started to feel the chilly temps. We accompanied cocktails and dinner in the dining room. Some selections were:

Can’t Help Falling In Love with You – Elvis Presley
Oh Happy Day - Hawkins
The Rose – McBroom
Bittersweet Symphony – Mick Jagger
When I’m 64 – Beatles
Viva La Vida – Coldpllay
As Time Goes By - Hupfeld
You Raise Me Up – Josh Groban
Hallelujah – Cohen
Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey
Wouldn’t It Be Nice – Beach Boys
Sweet Home Alabama – Van Zant, King, Rossington
Paradise – Coldplay
Vocalise - Rachmaninoff
Surely the Presence of the Lord is in This Place – Wolfe

Dinner Party

Strings of Elegance had a unique opportunity to play for the Tanner Lectures Board Dinner, a gathering of presidents from several universities, including Stanford, Yale, Princeton, and Harvard. What an honor to play for such a prestigious group! The president of University of Utah expressed "we enjoyed your wide variety of music, from Beethoven to Beatles."
Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City, Vahalla/Odin Deck

Evelyn and Kevin

We performed for a ceremony and cocktail hour at a private residence tucked away in the woods in Park City. The setting was stunning for a wedding. The forest was so peaceful and beautiful and the bride and groom invited just a small group of family and friends which created a really sweet ceremony.

This couple was so in love. The officiant mentioned a few times that it was meant for them to be together and by their interactions it truely seemed so.
We added a new song to our repertoire at the request of this adorable couple. We now play Ed Sheeran's "Thinking out Loud." Such a fun piece to play and so fitting for a wedding!

Kristin and Rory

Kristin and Rory chose the Empire Lodge in Deer Valley as their location to tie the knot. Stunning setting, stunning bride, stunning groom!
Empire Canyon Lodge, Deer Valley

The guests were seated on the lawn where they waited in anticipation of the ceremony. We finished up our traditional prelude music and started Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring as the groom, the parents of the bride and groom, and the groomsmen made their way down the aisle. We transitioned to Coldplay's Viva la Vida for the bridesmaids (fun choice Kristin and Rory!). Next, for the bride's grand entrance, we played Canon in D. You can't go wrong with Canon in D... It just sets the stage.

After a very sweet, very loving ceremony we welcomed the new Mr. and Mrs. back down the aisle to the tune of Marry You by Bruno Mars (a very popular piece this summer).

Strings of Elegance
Following the ceremony we played during the cocktail hour out on the deck. We played a mix of popular pieces, some classical and even a few Irish pieces in honor of the Groom, who is Irish.

Thanks to Kristin and Rory for including us in your special day.

Becky and Fred

Becky and Fred were married under perfect skies at the St. Regis Deer Valley Resort. This wedding was so fun to look at. Everything was designed beautifully. Their colors were a plum purple and peachy orange. The flowers, the tables, the dress, everything was eye candy.

The procession piece Becky and Fred chose for the ceremony was Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. We played Somewhere over the Rainbow for the bride's entrance. The ceremony was so personal and thoughtful. I always feel honored to attend such a special part of our client's lives.

Following the exchange of rings and a sweet first kiss as husband and wife, Becky and Fred walked back down the aisle to the Beatle's When I'm Sixty-Four. Every now and then we will have this piece requested for a ceremony. I think it so cute and so fitting. Here are the lyrics:

When I get older losing my hair
Many years from now
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

You'll be older too
And if you say the word
I could stay with you

I could be handy, mending a fuse
When your lights have gone
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride
Doing the garden, digging the weeds
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight
If it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck & Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line
Stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, wasting away
Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

Brogan & Lyndi

This backyard wedding in West Point was amazing. These people know how to party! They really transformed the yard into a beautiful space. A huge white tent covered most of the yard and kept everyone shaded. The ambiance, the sweet words that were spoken during the ceremony, the food, and the entertainment ;) were perfect for a summer wedding.
The Bride and Groom requested a few special pieces in addition to our regular repertoire. We played:
Queen's  My Best Friend
Bach's  Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major
Landgrave's  Because I Have Been Given Much
Handel's  Hallelujah Chorus
And now for your viewing pleasure ... a cheesy selfie of Michelle and Cathy.

Alena & Slovodan

Alena and Slovodan were married in the garden room at La Caille today. It was an intimate setting with just their closest friends surrounding them. We played traditional pieces for the ceremony, Canon in D, Bridal Chorus, and Mendelssohn's Wedding March. Alena loves Tchaikovsky so we played Waltz of the Flowers and Sleeping Beauty Waltz during the cocktail hour.

Melissa & Chase

This evening we played for a ceremony on the patio at the Grand America followed by a fun cocktail hour in one of their exquisite ballrooms.
Melissa and Chase wanted very personalized music. Here are their selections:

Procession: "Adore You" by Miley Cyrus
Bride's walk down the aisle: "All of Me" by John Legend
Recessional: "Without You" by Usher

We enjoyed being a part of this cute couple's big day!

"Benanna" Wedding

Ben and Anna were married this evening on the deck at Millcreek Inn. They jokingly call themselves "Benanna" now.  This couple was all out adorable. Their ceremony was unlike any I've attended... and after playing for weddings for 12 years now that's saying a lot.
Prior to the ceremony the bride and groom shared their stories, first telling a little about their backgrounds, then their meeting and engagement. They wanted their families and friends to connect and understand the love that brought these two together... so sweet!

We played Bach's Arioso for the procession. For any brides who are undecided about what music to walk to go listen to this piece... it may just make up your mind for you.

Empire Canyon Lodge Deer Valley

No one would expect cold weather on June 14th in Utah but it was chilly at the Empire Canyon Lodge at Deer Valley in Park City. I don't think the bride and groom noticed though... they were so cute together and so obviously in love.

I think it's fun when a couple chooses unique music for the ceremony. Jonathan and Mallory requested Wachet Auf for the processional, Air on the G String for the bride's walk down the aisle and All You Need Is Love for the recessional. It worked so well.

We stopped at a waffle truck on the way home called "Saturday's Waffles" for some bananas foster waffles... um... words can't describe the yum.

Saved the Day at Red Butte Gardens

A frantic Mother of the bride called me the week of this wedding as their scheduled musicians for her daughter's ceremony had cancelled at the last minute. I made some quick calls to my group and we were able to play for this memorable ceremony.

The officiant went out of his way to get to know the bride and groom prior to the event. This was evidenced during the ceremony as he was able to talk with and about each of them as close friends. It really made the experience sweet for all in attendance.

Red Butte Garden offers such a beautiful and unique atmosphere for a wedding. Us musicians benefit too...we enjoy playing music outdoors!
